On a Thursday evening, in hot yoga class, my instructor was ending the class with the word of the week, and that word was GRATEFUL. She said, “Cultivate the Habit of Being Grateful.” That definitely hit me and made me think! Why are we so focused on what we do not have, instead of being focused on all the great things that we do have? I believe it’s so hard to be grateful for the things right in front of us because we live in a culture where we are made to believe that we have to have the latest and greatest to be happy. We live in a world where we think material things will make us happy, but in reality, they never fulfill us.  In 1 Thessalonians 5:18, it says “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” There is so much in our lives that we should be grateful for; our family, a roof over our heads, getting an education, the list goes on. We tend to take those things for granted and those are big things to be grateful for!  Have you ever just stopped and taken a moment and thought, “What great opportunities are happening in my life right now?” We choose what we want to focus on and the attitude we have towards things. We have the choice to focus on the positive or the negative in our life. There are so many great things that God put in our lives to cherish and treasure. In Psalms 100:3-4 it says, “Know that the Lord, he is God! It is he, who made us, and we are his; we are his people and the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name!” Have a grateful heart and radiate positivity and kindness to everyone!! As we start the new year focus on gratefulness and seek all the opportunities God puts in front of you!
